Exclusion and Play - Yomihirasaka -.jpeg

"Yomotsuhirasaka: Expulsion and Play" is set on the slope of Yomihirasaka, a hill overflowing with peaches, where a goddess and a god confront each other. According to the Kojiki, the god Izanagi pursued the goddess Izanami, who died from burns after giving birth to the god of fire, to the afterlife. Shocked by his wife's changed appearance, he fled, hurling peaches at her to ward off his pursuers. The goddess, who gave birth to all things and ultimately gave birth to fire and minerals, was banished to the land of the dead. Yomihirasaka became the place where the goddess and goddess were separated into the realms of life and death. It is unknown who told this strange "myth," but a highlight of this play is when the exiled goddess Izanami reveals her true form and confronts the god. Yasuda Noboru, a master of the Shimogake Hosho school of waki, will play the male god Izanagi, while Kanazawa Kasumi, a biwa player who has previously played Izanami, and Watanabe Hisashi, a performer with a unique physical talent, will play the goddess Izanami.
